Location Distance
ServiceChannel has leveraged the geolocation mapping feature that is available for mobile devices. With Location Services enabled on a mobile device, FTM technicians can tell how far they are away from a work order location.
Map View
By tapping the distance indicator on a work order in the list view, you will be taken to a map view of the location. You can zoom in to take a closer view at the location.
The red bubble on the map shows how many work orders are currently assigned to a you at this location.
When you view a work order assigned to another technician, the blue pin icon indicates the location whereabouts.
Knowing this information may help you upon check-in/out activities since you must be within a specific geographical boundary before ServiceChannel Provider will allow you to check in to a work order. Contact your admin to learn what the allowed GPS radius for check-in is.
For the distance to be displayed in the mobile app, the location should have the latitude and longitude specified on the location details page in Service Automation.
- Navigate to the work order in the list view.
Pay attention to the blue distance indicator to the right. That’s how far away you are from the location.
