Using the Location Distance Map in ServiceChannel Provider Mobile

ServiceChannel has leveraged the geolocation mapping feature that is available for mobile devices. With Location Services enabled on a mobile device, FTM technicians can tell how far they are away from a work order location.

Map View

By tapping the distance indicator on a work order in the list view, you will be taken to a map view of the location. You can zoom in to take a closer view at the location.

The red bubble on the map shows how many work orders are currently assigned to a you at this location.

When you view a work order assigned to another technician, the blue pin icon indicates the location whereabouts.

Knowing this information may help you upon check-in/out activities since you must be within a specific geographical boundary before ServiceChannel Provider will allow you to check in to a work order. Contact your admin to learn what the allowed GPS radius for check-in is.

For the distance to be displayed in the mobile app, the location should have the latitude and longitude specified on the location details page in Service Automation.

⦿ How to Determine How Far Away You Are from a Work Order Location
  1. Navigate to the work order in the list view.
  2. Pay attention to the blue distance indicator to the right. That’s how far away you are from the location.

    • Your device’s Location Services must be enabled for this feature to work.
    • The distance from the work order location is shown in miles.
  3. Tap the distance indicator to open the map view.Distance in miles displayed on the work order in the list view
  4. Tap the red bubble to view details.

    • The red bubble shows the location address in the map view.
    • The number in the red bubble tells you how many work orders you are assigned to complete at this location.
