Fiscal Calendar Definition and Facts
A fiscal (budget/financial) calendar is a period used for accounting purposes, allowing for tracking financial performance, plan budgets, and balancing immediate and long-term needs and investments.
Fact 1. The fiscal calendar does not necessarily align with the calendar year and can start in any month based on your needs.
Fact 2. The fiscal calendar helps plan regular maintenance spends, repairs, upgrades, emergency funds, and capital projects.
Fact 3. In facility management, the fiscal calendar is typically divided into 12 to 13 periods.
Fact 4. The fiscal calendar can be detailed with parameters of category (or primary category), trade, general ledger (GL) code, and/or location.

About Budget Insights in ServiceChannel
With ServiceChannel's budget insights, you can:
- Create fiscal calendars and upload budget amounts for specified periods to enable precise financial planning and budgeting, tailored to specific operational needs and timeframes.
- Gain real-time insight into budget alignment for each work order and view all related work orders to proactively manage expenses.
- Prevent overspending by viewing how proposals related to work orders correspond with the financial plan, ensuring funds are available for potential expenses.
- Track budgets and make decisions on the go using the ServiceChannel Mobile app when viewing work orders and proposals related to work orders.
- Ensure projects stay on budget and compare the projected and actual budget spending with Budgets Insights Report dashboard.
Navigating to Budget Insights
- Click the hamburger menu > Admin > Budget Insights.
The Budget Insights page opens.
Only Power User and Admin User roles can create and edit budget in the Admin module.
