Configuring Multi-Level Proposals

With multi-level proposals approval, you ensure that submitted proposals are managed according to your company’s hierarchy and distributed by managers’ levels.

The process of multi-level approval of proposals typically involves the following steps:

  1. Proposal submission. The provider submits a proposal for a new project for approval.
  2. First level approval. A designated approval level, for example, a district manager reviews the proposal and approves it if the proposal is deemed suitable. The proposal is sent to higher levels of approval: typically, a regional or general manager.
  3. Additional approval levels. The higher levels get notified of the proposal review. Depending on the size of the proposal, additional levels of review and approval may be required.
Let’s say a major remodel proposal may require approval from multiple levels of management because the proposal budget is $50 000, and the company needs to ensure they properly spend money.
  4. Final approval. Once all necessary approvals have been obtained, the proposal is considered final and can become a work order. The service provider will be notified.

Contact your ServiceChannel manager to enable multi-level approval of proposals.

MLP Configuration

MLP Approval configuration consists of three parts:

  • Email Notifications: Approvers in the MLP hierarchy are notified 24 hours before proposals are automatically escalated.
Go to Admin > Users > Edit User Details to check the box next to the Proposal MLP Notifications and save the settings.

Only users with the Administrator permissions can turn on/off notifications for users.

  • MLP Levels: Hierarchical lists of users who are appointed to approve proposals and the location(s) for which those users are permissioned to approve proposals.
  • MLP Rules: The workflow of the overall approval process. MLP Rules are configured using a hierarchy of MLP Levels and diverging approval paths for proposals under differing trades and categories.
You must create MLP Levels before creating MLP Rules. The best practice is to create all MLP  Levels first so you can easily select them while creating MLP Rules. You may use the MLP Levels template to configure MLP Approval.
