Features and improvements
Core modules
Admin. Whenever your search for an employee in Permissions > Users brings no results, a friendly message will appear, letting you know that no users matching the search criteria were found.
Admin. For all devoted Mac users out there! When you set up user permissions and access, keep in mind that to select multiple options, let’s say, multiple permissions, you should hold the Shift or Control key on your keyboard. To deactivate unwanted ones, hold the Command ⌘ key, and click the options you no longer need.
Admin. There were two ways to set password self-management for an employee: by enabling the setting in the General Info section of a user profile or by assigning the Password Self Management secondary role in the Permissions section. The role duplicated the setting, so we removed it from the secondary roles list in Permissions. Now you can enable password self-management and enter the password email for the user only on the General Info tab.
Dashboard. We’ve made it possible for you to control whether the GL code can only be viewed or can also be edited on the page for submitting a new service request. Now, the Enable Accounting Fields checkbox in your dashboard settings, when selected, allows you to view the GL code. To edit it, together with the Enable Accounting Fields checkbox, you should activate the new Changeable GL Code option.
Work Orders. Starting on Monday (August 2, 2021), new rules for automating technician work order assignments will come into force. In the Work Order Assignment section of Provider Automation, a provider will be able to assign their technicians only to those Locations and Trades where the provider organization is in the ranked position according to the client’s Provider Assignment rules. Trying to create an auto-assignment rule for a location or trade the provider isn’t assigned to will trigger a warning message.
Add-on modules
Connector. Resolution and root cause codes can now be passed via the Provider Enterprise (PE) Connector. When the provider of a PE subscriber adds resolution and root cause codes to a Connector work order, all these codes will also be transferred to the original service request. 📞 Contact your ServiceChannel representative to enable the feature.
Spaces for Dashboard. Floor plans have finally turned into spaces! In your Service Automation hamburger menu, the Floor Plans section for managing spaces is now called Spaces.
Bug fixes
Core modules
Admin. Hit an error upon creating new users? The issue might have been caused by the password you entered for a new user. When it didn’t meet your company’s custom password complexity requirements, an error occurred. The error message was missing, leaving you in the dark about what went wrong. We’ve fixed that. If the password doesn’t follow the requirements, we show you all these requirements so that you can correct the password.
Asset Manager. In the top left corner of the asset details page, the asset’s condition was always displayed as Excellent even when you marked it as Average or even Poor. We’ve done away with this discrepancy — the asset’s condition at the top of the page mirrors the condition you’ve set.
Asset Manager. On the assets list, the date when assets were updated mysteriously disappeared. We’ve solved the mystery and returned the escaped dates back to their place.
Dashboard. You couldn’t create a new service request when the name of the asset you associated with the request was too long. The length of the asset’s name doesn’t affect the WO creation process anymore.
Dashboard. When a new message of the day was created, you didn’t see it unless you logged out and then back in. You don’t have to re-login to see the new message — just reload the page, and it will be there.
Invoices. Some of you might have had a problem uploading invoices via template. The Validation Failed error message popped up but didn't hint about what was wrong. It also gave you no option to download the results file to fix the errors. The message is more informative now: it shows the number of records that failed validation. When only some records fail, you are suggested to download the results file. When all the records cannot be validated, make sure you’re using the correct version of the template.
Locations. The location details page wouldn’t load in Internet Explorer. The issue has been fixed.
RFPs. The description of your request for proposal written in a non-Latin language, e.g., Japanese, turned into a series of question marks ??????? once the RFP was submitted. Now we display the RFP description in the language you’ve used.
Work Orders. We had said goodbye 👋 to the old format of WO notification emails, but the old design found a loophole to go back. If you’ve recently resent a WO dispatch email from the overlay for WO editing, the recipients might have got the email alert in the old design instead of the new one. We’ve closed this loophole.
