The Weather Overlay in Maps View allows you to interact with weather events in real-time. This helps you, for example, plan safety procedures for your locations and staff, or prepare providers for post-weather cleanup. Should you need to prepare for storms or clean up after storms, you can predictively create service requests to align providers with weather-related services, such as snow/ice removal or restoration services in flood-prone areas.
Here, you can see both national and global weather events as well as local forecasts. The weather events you can view are:
- Weather Alerts
- Fires (Current & Outlook)
- Humidity
- Hurricanes
- Ice (Accumulated)
- Precipitation
- Radar
- Snow (1 hour and Accumulated)
- Storms (Hail, Lightning, Snow, Ice, Rain)
- Temperatures
- Wind Speeds
Using the Legend and the Timeline to View Weather Events
While viewing weather events, use the Legend and the Timeline on the bottom of the screen to view past and forecasted of event paths and patterns. This is useful, for example, to see how severe a hurricane is and how it is predicted to travel, or how snowstorms will move across a geographical region.
Using the Weather Legend
When you select at least one event, the legend icon appears on the bottom-right of the page. Using this legend, you can identify the strength of storms, wind gusts, and snow/ice accumulations.
Using the Timeline
The timeline shows how selected weather events moved recently, and how they are predicted to move across geographical regions.
By default, the timeline runs 24 hours in the past and 36 hours into the future. You can alter these settings to extend up to 48 hours in the past and 120 hours (5 days) into the future.
- Select the desired weather event from the list. The Timeline appears.
- On the upper-right corner of the Timeline, click the gear icon. The Time Range (hours) popup appears.
- Extend the left circle to the desired time range, up to -48 hours (or 48 hours into the past).
- Extend the right circle to the desired time range, up to +120 hours (or 5 days into the future).
- Click the play button. Both the Timeline and related weather events update automatically.
Viewing Local Weather Events
Weather also gives you a local forecast around your Locations. By clicking a Location GPS pin or circle cluster, you can zoom into the desired area to see a 5-day forecast and temperature averages.
The weather details you will see are:
- Current weather alerts
- 5-day weather forecast
- Daily high and low temperatures
- Average temperature for the current day
- Precipitation forecast
- Wind speed forecast
- Humidity forecast
- Expand the Map View filter panel to see the list of Locations.
- Hover over a Location GPS pin or cluster, and then click the desired Location. The map zooms into that Location, and the 5-day weather forecast and any active alerts appear in the Map View filter panel.
- In the filter panel, click the arrow next to the date and time to view the rest of the 5-day forecast.
From here, you can view open work orders, create service requests, and download certain data. See Reviewing Work Orders in Map View for more information.
