After accepting the invitation to join your business partner, the next step is to add technicians to the Work Order Assignment list. This is crucial so that you and your business partner knows who is working on the work order for the client.

When you first land on the assignment list, you may see a blank page:

This is because people who are specifically marked as a Technician will only show up on this page. Using the User Management module in Admin you can:

Once your technicians are set up, you can assign work orders to your technicians.

Note

People who are marked as Technicians only cannot access ServiceChannel's web platform. They can only use the ServiceChannel Provider Mobile App to check into work orders. 

First, let's mark the first person listed in Admin as the Technician.

Adding the Technician Permission to the Business Owner Role

Adding yourself as a Technician is beneficial, even when you are not actually performing the work. Being able to see what your technicians see will help you guide them should they encounter issues, or when you want to collaborate about work orders. Since your company was not directly assigned the work order by a client, you will not see these work orders in the Work Order module.

title⦿ How to Add the Primary Account Person as a Technician
  1. On the top-left navigation, click the hamburger menu , and then click Administration > User Management. The User Management module appears.
    • To the right of the first name listed, notice that the user role is Business Owner / Management. This user typically is not set up to check into work orders through ServiceChannel Provider Mobile.

  2. Click the user's First Name. The Update User page appears.
  3. To the right of the page, check the Technician box.

    Warning

    Do not change the User Role dropdown to Technician. You will remove your access to all modules within Provider Automation, and will have to contact our support team to reset your account. Resetting the account may take up to 5 business days.


  4. (Optional) Add a profile photo, and update any relevant information under the existing tab, or under the Additional Contact Info and/or Employee Info tabs.
  5. Click Save. The user list appears with the updated information.
  6. On the top of the screen click WO Assignment. You will now see this account as a technician to which you can assign work orders.

Adding Other Technicians

In Provider Automation, you can add employees to your account and give them permissions in line with their duties.

title⦿ How to Add a User and Send a User Invitation
  1. Under Admin > User Management, click the Invite User button. The Invite User page appears.
  2. Under the Basic column, enter the user's name, email, and mobile phone number

    Each user must have a valid email address in order to be invited through this method.


  3. Under the Access column, change the User Role to Technician.

    Only users assigned the Technician role will appear in the Work Order Assignment list and can use their email and password to login to ServiceChannel Provider Mobile

    Users who are not assigned the Technician role can only use their PIN code to login to SC Provider Mobile.


  4. Click Invite. Invited users are added to your company, and are automatically sent an email to complete their profiles.
  5. On the User Management page, click Invited to view all users invited to your company.

Assigning Work Orders to Technicians

Once your technicians have completed their profiles, you will see them listed under the Active tab, as well as in Work Order Assignments.

From here, you can assign work order to your technicians.
