Leak Detection

Maintaining an active system for monitoring commercial refrigeration systems is important from an environmental, regulatory and financial perspective. Adding Leak Detection to commercial refrigeration systems adds an additional tool that reports actionable data that can help maintain regulatory compliance and decrease overall operational cost. Therefore knowing the status of your leak detection system becomes a primary concern.

Leak Detection Assets

Leak Detectors can be tracked and monitored independently from the assets they monitor. By setting up leak detectors as independent assets, users you will be able to place work order requests for them and track the cost of their use via Service Automation Analytics.

title⦿ How to Create a Leak Detection Asset Types
  1. Navigate to Assets (Equipment) > Manage Asset Types.

  2. Click Add Asset Type.

  3. Enter a unique name for the asset type, then select Standard Refrigerant Type from the Inherited From drop-down menu, and opt for the Leak Detector purpose.
  4. Click Submit Asset Type.

  5. Adjust the Standard Attributes as needed.

    • Hide: Selecting the Hide checkbox next to a standard attribute prevents that attribute from appearing on assets of that asset type. Therefore, you will not be able to enter a value for that attribute. Additionally, when running an asset report, hidden attributes, which by design are empty, will not return any results. Finally, when using any of the templates to bulk upload assets, if you enter a value for an attribute that has been hidden, it will cause an error and the upload will be rejected.
    • View: Selecting View adds that attribute to the asset type. It gives you the option of entering a value for that attribute on assets. If you opt to not enter a value for the specific attribute, it will not be included in an asset search using that attribute as a filter.
    • Edit: Selecting Edit gives service providers the ability to edit that attribute for a given asset. Providers can search for a client’s asset in their instance of Asset Manager in Provider Automation. Edits are in real time and will be viewable immediately after they are updated. Note that editing an asset tag ID isn't allowed.

    • Show On Proposal: Selecting Show On Proposal makes the asset attribute available on the proposal form that the providers fill out to create proposals.

      Note

      Should you want your providers to be able to associate their proposals with assets when they create proposals, contact your CSM.


    • Required: Selecting Required mandates that a value should be entered for that attribute. The Required option can only be selected if the attribute is viewable. Required attributes are marked with a red asterisk * when you create or update an asset.

  6. To add Custom Attributes, click the Add Custom button.

    1. On the modal that opens, give each custom attribute a unique name.

    3. Enter a Default Value.
    4. (Optional) Check the Required checkbox if warranted.
    5. Click Add Attribute to add the custom attribute. The attribute appears under Custom Attributes.

  7. Add the Additional Trades as needed.

  • The Location from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter the Physical/Servicing Area.

    • Select the Leak Detector asset type you've created earlier.

    Note

    Once you select an asset type, additional fields appear.

    Provide the required information on the leak detector.

  • Provide Additional Information as needed.

  • Click the Add Asset button.

    • A unique Asset Type has been created for Leak Detectors.
