Users who are charged with entering asset meter data require specific user authorization to do so. The required authorization is set in two places, Manage Roles and Edit Portal Restrictions.

The users role settings must be configured so that their primary role set under Manage Roles has the required access under Edit Portal Restrictions. For instance, in the example below Dina Dielberg has been set as a User in the Manage Roles section. The role of User has been granted Full access to ManageAssetOnWorkOrder in the Edit Portal Restrictions section. With this configuration, Dina can enter meter reading data on work orders that she has access to.

This configuration will grant individuals with the role of User the ability to enter meter reading data on work orders that they have access to.

Configuring Work Order Properties

Before a Planned Maintenance work order can be created to collect asset meter reading data, Asset Readings has to be added to the work order properties list. Once added, users will be able to select it from the Category drop-down menu when creating a new PM Service. See Managing Categories for more information on creating categories.

The Asset Readings category has been hard coded so that asset readings work orders cannot be closed until an asset reading has been entered. Users are able to add Meter data on a work order by clicking the asset’s ID or Tag ID link, which will open the asset’s meter modal.

Creating an Asset Meter

Asset Meters are created at the Asset Type level. Therefore all assets of the specified type will have the same Asset Meter attached to them. If there are assets under a specified asset type that you do not want a meter attached to then a secondary asset type category will need to be created and assets moved to that asset type.
