Overview
The Asset Tagging feature of Service Automation is designed to add an additional layer of efficiency to the end user. With Asset Tagging, you can:
- Scan an asset tagged with a vertical bar, QR or NFC coded tag and associate it to assets in your Service Automation database
- Scan an asset tagged with a vertical bar, QR or NFC coded tag and create a new asset in you Service Automation database
- Create and add new assets to your Service Automation database
- Search for assets by location in your Service Automation database
- Create an Asset with an Asset Tag along with modifying and deleting the Asset Tag
Asset Tagging provides you with the ability to efficiently track assets by location using one easy to use mobile application. Asset Tagging is located within the SC Mobile application.
Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable Asset Tagging in the ServiceChannel Mobile app.

SC Mobile is free and available for IOS and Android devices and can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store, respectively. Users, with the appropriate permissions log in to SC Mobile with their Service Automation credentials. Users who are set-up for single sign-on (SSO) can use those credentials to log in to SC Mobile.
Using SC Mobile for Asset Tagging
There are several workflows options when using SC Mobile’s asset tagging feature. You can:
- Create a new asset and add it to your Service Automation database
- Scan a vertical bar, QR or NFC coded tag attached to a physical asset and associate the asset to an asset already in you Service Automation database
- Scan a vertical bar, QR or NFC coded tag attached to a physical asset and add the asset to your Service Automation database
- Search your Service Automation database for an asset
Accessing the Asset Scanning Module in SC Mobile
- Launch the SC Mobile app.
- On the SC Mobile login screen enter your user ID password combination or a valid mobile access code, then tap Login.
- Click the Manage Assets tab to select a location.
- Select a location to manage the assets.
Creating an Asset with Asset Tag in SC Mobile
- Click the Manage Asset tab to select a location.
- Select a Location where the asset is needed.
- Click the Create New Asset button to start the process.
- Select an Asset Type from the available list.
Add at least the required (*) information for the asset.
Tag ID, Location, Brand, and Install date are required fields.
Tag ID & Asset Tag fields should match exactly, and both should be filled in for all equipment.
Fill out as much information as possible for asset data collection
- Click the Submit button to add the asset.
- Click the OK link to confirm the added asset.
Modifying an Asset with a Asset Tag in SC Mobile
- Click the Manage Assets tab to select a location
- Select a location to manage the assets
- Locate and click the asset to view its details
- Click the Asset Tag line to modify the asset tag
- Modify the Asset Tag
- Click the Submit button to finalize the change
- Click the Manage Assets tab to select a location
- Select a location to manage the assets
- Locate and click the asset to view its details
- Click the Asset Tag line to modify the asset tag
- Remove the Asset Tag
- Click the Submit button to finalize the change
Scanning an Asset Tag to Associate it with an Existing Asset
- Click the Manage Asset tab to select a location.
- Select a location to scan its assets.
- Click the Scan icon to select a scanning option.
Choose a scanning option to scan the asset.
Asset Rules determines what options are available for scanning.
- The asset's information becomes available.
- Click the Manage Asset tab to select a location.
- Select a location for where the asset is needed..
- Select Scan QR Code or Scan NFC Code.
- Scan the code on the asset.
- Click the Associate link to connect scan to an asset.
- Select an asset from the list.
- Optional: Select an Asset Type
- Optional: Check the Not Associated box if not associated with existing assets.
- Optional: Click the Create New Asset button to start the process
- Optional: Select an Asset Type from the available list..
- Optional: Add at least the required asset information.
- Optional: Click the Submit button to add the asset.
- Optional: Click the OK link to confirm the added asset.
Searching for an Asset
- Click the Manage Asset tab to select a location.
- Select a location for where the asset is located.
Use the Search textbox to find the asset.
You can search by Tag ID, Asset Tag, Serial Number, Brand, or Model.
Click the asset once it becomes visible from search results.
Asset Tagging provides you with the ability to efficiently track assets by location using one easy to use mobile application. Transparency drives performance.
