Managing asset types involves setting up a framework for capturing the relevant data about a specific type of asset. This could include, but is not limited to, capturing information about the warranty period, install date, serial number, original cost and determining the not-to-exceed (NTE) amount for servicing a particular asset type.

Asset Types

All assets added into Service Automation must fit into one of the established asset types, or an asset type must be created for it. Asset types are configured to contain user defined attributes for the assets they hold. These attributes are used by Service Automation to complete specific tasks such as running reports, creating service requestrequests, and asset tracking.

It is important that when setting up asset types that you include all of the attributes that you use when creating reports on an assets viability.
